Monday 11th February, 2008 Updates
Another 2 days have passed and my site has creeped to page 7 of Google SERPs now from Page 15 as it was on Saturday. I've done some on-page changes now to the page to see if they affect the rankings of the site now. Yahoo is showing quite a few indexed links now, which is good and Google has also indexed a newer version of the page. Currently, the cached copy is showing a February 7th page for the SEOContest2008 page now.
Page 1 SERPs are also showing some completely new sites in the SERPs now. The latest top 5 rankings which I see now are the following:

Saturday 09th February, 2008 Updates
Finally, I checked the SERPs once again today and my SEOContest2008 page is finally back in Google SERPs, but it is currently showing on Page 15 of the SERPs. Google hasn't indexed my latest page still which is quite disturbing, but Yahoo has been regularly updating and indexing the page updates and also counting the backlinks and is now showing 1,070 backlinks to the page which are a lot. My position is still at Number 6 on Yahoo for the Contest Keyword SEOContest2008, with slight changes in the SERPs from time to time. Let's see what happens next on Google.

Thursday, February 07 - SEO Contest 2008 Updates
It is day 6 of the contest and my page for SEOContest2008 is showing at number 6 on Yahoo! which is great. I hadn't been monitoring my progress on any other Search Engine except Google, as that is what the contest requires. But optimizing for Yahoo is much more easier than doing the same for Google. For now, my page has completely vanished from Google SERPs and is nowhere to be seen :p You can find screenshots below of my rankings on Yahoo and also todays page 1 ranking on Google SERPs for the contest keyword SEOContest2008.

Wednesday, February 06 2008 - SEO Contest Updates
The competition is getting tougher every day for SEOContest2008. I just checked and there are 10,300 results on Google SERPs for the competitions keyword. Surprisingly, my website has disappeared completely from Google SERPs, and a different page is coming in the rankings instead of the one which I had made for contest!

Tuesday, February 05 2008 SEOContest2008 Update
4th day of the contest and Google SERPs show 3,730 results now. I'm still on page 6 and Google doesn't seem to be indexing my webpage regularly. Yahoo isn't showing any backlinks either, although it had started showing inbound links for my web page yesterday. Hopefully the situation will improve in this week.

Monday, February 04 2008 - SEOContest2008 Update
WOW! Finally some good news! It's day 3 of the contest and 2 days since I entered as a contestant, and my page is finally indexed and showing on page 6 on Google (Position # 54!). I'm so happy, I have high hopes of making it to the top 3 pages at least 
which won't be bad as my first contest. Here is a screenshot of page 6 showing SEO-Reloaded SEOContest2008 page at position number 54. 
There are 3,030 search results on google today, and there is a tough competition going on in the top 5 positions. Here is an update on todays Top 5 results on Google SERPs:

Sunday, February 03 2008 - SEO Contest 2008 Updates
2 days into the contest and there are already 2,480 results on Google showing for the search term "SEOContest2008". Yesterday, when I checked the number of results on Google, it was showing 1,510 pages. I've captured the screenshots for yesterday and today for Google SERPs for the contest winning search term. Saturday, February 02 2008 Update for SEOContest2008
I'm going to have some fun by entering this new SEO Contest started over at UKWebMasterWorld. The rules of the contest are plain. All you need to do is to make a brand new page /directory / sub-domain or get a new domain registered to enter the contest, and try and achieve #1 position on Google for the KW SEOContest2008 by April 1st 2008! (I hope this is not an April fools joke )
You also need to add a link like the one below on the page which you will be optimizing to rank for this KW.
