Hallway Page

Special highly optimised web pages that are created in order to rank well when a user enters a certain key phrase, or search term, into a search engine. Also known as Doorway pages and Gateway Pages.
2.

Header Tag

An HTML tag which is commonly used for page headers.
3.

Hidden Text

Text which is invisible to the human eye because it is the same color as the background. This is another way of tricking the search engines in thinking that the page has lots of content.
4.

Hit

An instance of a graphic or file being loaded on a webpage.

Homepage

The main page or the introductory page of a website from where visitors to the website can navigate to other sections of the website. The home page is usually referred to as the index page of a website.
6.

HotBot

Owned by Lycos, HotBot offers Pay-for-inclusion via InSite Select. HotBot is presently allowing searches of Inktomi, Google, FAST, and Teoma indexes.
7.

HTML

Hyper Text Markup Language. The languages used to format webpages.
8.

HTML Link

A link from one page to another. Links are used to join web pages.
9.

Hyperlink

Hyperlinks are the graphics, words, or phrases you click on in HTML documents that jump from page to page or site to site.
